Industrial Laser Safety Officer

Industrial Laser Safety Officer -- Two Days (Tuesday & Wednesday)

[Alternate course title: Applied Laser Safety]

For all Laser Users and for Laser Safety Officers in most industrial laser environments.

This two-day course meets all the training requirements of OSHA and the American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers (ANSI Z136.1) and is the heart of our laser safety training program. It is designed specifically for personnel with little or no previous experience with lasers but also includes additional information that will be particularly useful to more experienced laser users. This course includes just the right amount of theory and background information, no math, understandable explanations of OSHA and ANSI requirements, and real-world examples of solving safety problems in both industrial and research settings. It is designed to provide the best possible training for all laser users and all the information a Laser Safety Officer in a typical industrial situation needs to establish an effective Laser Safety Program. Example problems illustrate the use of Easy HazTM Industrial LSO laser hazard analysis software. The presentation is fast-paced and efficient in order to convey as much useful information as possible in the two-day format, but there are also plenty of opportunities to get all your questions answered. All participants receive printed course materials with instructor’s notes, OSHA’s Technical Manual on Laser Safety Programs, a flashdrive containing reference material, Easy HazTM Industrial LSO laser hazard analysis software, and laser safety training materials you can use in your own in-house laser safety training. A copy of the ANSI Standard is not required for this course. (Students may choose to have their class certificate read either Applied Laser Safety or Industrial Laser Safety Officer.)
